Chocolate chip cookies are a classic treat that everybody loves. Who dosen't enjoy coming home to the smell of freshly baked cookies? Who? And it's the iconic comfort food. When you have a bad day, and a chocolate chip cookie can bring a smile to your face. I've tried a lot of chocolate chip cookie recipes and I can gurantee that these are the best. These are flavorful, chewy in the inside and slightly crispy on the outside and you've got the chocolate! Plus, they are super quick to make! These are perfect for ANY occasion. Nobody feels more welcome with a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Or just because they are chocolate chip cookies.
The butter
Butter is a key ingredient in most cookies. It brings out the best flavor and you need fat to make cookies tasty. Duh. I've tried creaming the butter, melted butter butter and finally I found that browned buter is the best! What is browing the butter? Brown butter is butter that has been cooked down until brown, and has very delicous flavor. It smells so, so good! Like toasted nuts and caramel. Delish. Brown butter gives really good flavor to the cookies.
Flour
Just regular everyday, all purpose flour.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is a raising agent like baking powder but baking soda is more like making it rise sideways and baking powder making rise upwards. So you'll be needing baking soda for this recipe.
Eggs
It adds richness and it chewy.
Sugar
An ingredient you can't miss in any baked goods. The texture of the cookies are differnt for the kind and amount of sugar you use. These are chewy cookies so you'll be needing more brown sugar than white sugar. If you like crispy cookies, you can use all white sugar. I don't recommand using all brown sugar.
Ingredients
1 stick / 1/2 cup of butter (113g)
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of white sugar*
1 egg
1 cup and 1/4 cup of flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp espresso powder* (optional)
1/2 cup of chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Cut the butter into pieces and put in a skillet over medieum heat. Once all melted, it will gradually turn brown and smell like caramel. Take it off the heat. (make sure you don't leave any brown bits. They are the flavor!) Chill in the refridegerator for 15 minutes
2. In a medieum bowl, mix together the flour, and baking soda.
3. In a large bowl, pour in the melted butter and sugar and mix together for 3 minutes until fluffy.
4. Add in the espresso powder and egg and mix together.
5. Add in the flour, about 1/3 cup at a time. until fully incorporated.
6. Add in the chocolate chips and mix together.
7. Scoop 1.5 tbsp balls of cookie dough. You can bake them right away or chill them overnight or even freeze them.
8. Bake at 180'C for 13 minutes. After they come out of the oven, let them, cool completley on the pan.
Recipe Notes:
You can use all white sugar for crispier cookies
Espresso powder boots the flavor and the cookie does not taste like coffee.
